For your Avaya IP500 system, the Avaya IP500 VCM 32 V2 Base Card provides voice compression channels. When using IP trunk or IP endpoint applications, voice compression channels are required.

This card is used to expand the control unit’s voice compression channels. These channels are utilised for VoIP calls, such as IP trunks and extensions. Using IP500 VCM cards and IP500 Combination Cards, IP500 V2/V2A control units can support up to 148 voice compression channels.

Description

Supports

Codecs G.711, G.729ab and G.723 with 64ms echo cancellation. The maximum number of simultaneous channels useable on an IP500 VCM base card is affected by the codec being used. The following table assumes that all calls using the VCM use the same codec. Note: Whilst IP500 VCM cards support G729b, it is not supported by other IP Office systems such as Linux based systems.

•G.722 is supported by IP Office Release 8.0 and higher in systems with an IP500 VCM card or an IP500 Combination card.

•IP Office Modes: Not supported in IP Office Basic Edition modes.
